VIRGINIA WARRANT PROCEDURE
Warrants
If you have, or think you have, a Warrant in any county in Virginia you came to the right place.  You can attempt to call the clerk of the court or police to find out if you do in fact have an active warrant however, most counties will not give out this information and will tell you that you must come to the police station or court to find out.  The do this so they will have an opportunity to arrest you if there is in fact an open warrant for you.
The best course of action if you think you may have a warrant is to contact Lookout Bail Bonds and speak to one of our professional bondsman.  Our bondsman know the different court systems and can give you valuable information that will save you a great deal of time when taking care of an open warrant.

After contacting Lookout Bail Bonds you bondsman will tell you what police station or court you should go to in order to turn yourself in for an open warrant in that particular county.  They will explain what the best time is to arrive so that you will be processed and released as quickly as possible.  Each jail has a different time when the correctional staff changes shifts and your bondsman tell you how to avoid being caught in a shift change where the facility is locked down.  This will save you hours of additional waiting to have your bail bond posted and you will be released much more quickly.  They will also tell you what stations to avoid to keep from being transported to a larger jail before you can be released.

What to expect
Once you arrive at the facility that your bondsman suggests a police officer will meet you there and serve the warrant on you.  This involves him telling you what the warrant is for and arresting you.  They will handcuff you behind your back.  Understand that the police officer has no choice in this respect.  You will then be put into his police car and driven to the jail.  He will then take you in front of a Virginia Magistrate who will review the warrant and determine if there is enough evidence to charge you.  If he finds that the evidence is sufficient he will hold what is called a bond hearing where he will determine if bail is appropriate for the charge.  This is when he will set a bail bond.  At this point you will be booked into the jail and put into a holding area called "intake".  This is where you should be allowed to use the phone.  Your bondsman should have instructed you to write our phone number down on your hand so you cannot lose it.  Call our office and you will be connected to your bail bondsman who will give you an update about posting your bail bond.  Most times if you have contacted us prior to turning yourself in the bondsman will have already started the process of bonding you out before you were even put into the "intake" area.  By following this procedure you will be processed out of the jail hopefully in less than 1 hour.  You bondsman can give you more specific information about what to expect as far as wait times depending on what jail you are being booked through.

It is that simple.  Call our office now and speak to a bondsman if you think you may have an open warrant.  Lookout Bail Bonds will walk you through the entire process.
